NOVEMBER 2021-Welcome to our month of Divine Encounter!
As this year slowly draws to a close we are reminded of God’s continued presence in our lives. This year brought with it some challenges but here we are in November still enjoying God’s faithfulness! In Psalm 103,This Psalm talks of the goodness of the Lord and how we should be filled with gratitude. Most often we come to God with expectations not realizing that the Lord wants a relationship with us. He is more than capable to satisfy all our needs and when He does, what next? Should He be treated like Santa Claus whenever we need something or should we wholeheartedly desire a relationship with Him, a connection that is so intimate we would cherish it above anything else? And how can we obtain this intimate relationship? By divine encounter! What is a divine encounter? A divine encounter is the meeting of soul and spirit with the Lord, a new awakening that comes with a glorious transformation evident for all to see.
Psalm 103 says: “Bless the LORD,
O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the LORD, O my
soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all
your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. The LORD works righteousness and justice for all who are
oppressed”(NIV).
Mary the mother of Jesus had a divine encounter with the Lord and was assigned a duty of which she voiced no protest nor resisted but willingly offered herself for the service. She was available and willing and said: ”Here I am, use me Lord” Mary was willing to be used as a vessel no matter how shameful it may appear to the world in order to fulfill the divine purpose of God. She was esteemed for the role she played historically.
We strive to have a divine encounter but are we willing to pay the price?
In 2 Samuel 24:24, David was ready to pay the price and offer a sacrifice pleasing to the Lord, in no uncertain terms did David make clear that he would not offer to God what did not cause him anything. And so must we if we want to have a divine encounter with God.
Looking at the case studies in the Bible, all those who experienced a divine encounter with the Lord had several things in common, they were available, willing and ready to pay the price whatever that entails. Why? Because they had been transformed by the experience. A divine encounter is not a one way street, it takes two-The Lord and the believer. It is an intimate, ongoing relationship of trust, humility, obedience and understanding.
Do you want to experience a divine encounter today? Make yourself available, willing and ready to pay the price and as you do so God will meet you at the point of your need and will transform your circumstances for good, surpassing all your expectations.
In His service,
Sis N.Eke
